ACADEMIC

The Christian school curriculum is built around the basic core subjects as any good school and is taught with a greater emphasis upon student self-motivation.  These disciplines are studied and understood in their proper perspective with the revealed truth of God’s Word as the foundation of all human knowledge and understanding.  History, math, and science are all taught from a scriptural standpoint.  This is no easy task, but the outcome is young people who should be spiritually self-motivated and individually responsible to God.
In addition, considerable emphasis is placed on the development of strong study habits and special projects to teach the skills needed for life.
SCHOOL CURRICULUM (Kindergarten through 6th grade)

1.       A Bible curriculum designed to give children a strong background in God’s Word practically applied to life.

          2.       The fundamentals of an excellent reading program based on intensive phonics along with the beginning of all the areas of learning; math, science, social studies, language arts and communication skills.

          3.       All of the above programs are enriched through art, music, films, and videos, field trips, school programs. etc.

          4.       Physical education geared to the development of sharp minds and healthy, well-coordinated bodies.

SCHOOL EXTRAS

 MUSIC PROGRAM
Musical ability is a God given talent that should be used to glorify God.  Music will be included in the classroom procedure as well as special music classes for all grades.  The children will be asked to sing the songs they have learned at special programs during the school year.

FINE ARTS
The arts are incorporated into all aspects of the classroom subjects.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION
In all games and playground activities, we will endeavor to teach good sportsmanship and a Christian spirit.  Two times a week the children will participate in organized P.E. activities.

COMPUTER LAB
All children (K-6th grade) will visit our computer lab once a week for hands-on training on computers in our computer lab.

FIELD TRIPS
Parents will receive announcements from the teacher or school office whenever a field trip is scheduled.  This will contain all the specific information regarding the field trip.  This information will be listed on the permission slip which must be signed by the parent and returned to the teacher or the child will NOT be allowed to attend the field trip.  NO phone authorization for field trips will be permitted.  All drivers for carpools must provide the school office with a copy of their current driver’s license and proof of insurance.  Each child will have a seat belt.  A separate and individual permission slip is required for EACH field trip.  If any of the information regarding the field trip changes, then a new updated permission slip must be signed and turned in to the teacher.  NO CARE is available for children not attending scheduled field trips.  It is the responsibility of the parent to make arrangements for child care.

CHAPEL
Students in all grades will have chapel once a week.  Chapel is a special time for worshipping the Lord and all students should treat this time with respect.
Chapel Dress:       Students MUST wear their school uniform.  THIS WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Newsletters and memos will be sent home with the children announcing any upcoming school events as to time, place, etc.  These activities will include open house, parties, picnics, field trips, spelling bees, and holiday school programs.  We will attempt to send most of these communications home in the child’s Friday folders.  Any special announcements such as practice sessions for programs will be handled in the same way.
